Two therapists, four rooms, one clear idea: a spa that puts the quality of each session above the volume of bookings.
Vaughn Society opened on Landstraße in 2019 after its founders — both trained therapists with backgrounds in Austrian alpine wellness and European aesthetic medicine — grew frustrated with the gap between what a day spa could be and what most of them were. The premise was simple: keep the space small, train deeply rather than broadly, and refuse to fill every hour of every day just to hit a revenue target. The name “Society” reflects a founding belief that the relationship between therapist and regular guest is one of mutual respect and accumulated trust — not a transaction repeated from scratch each visit.
We source base oils and botanical extracts from two Austrian producers and one Swiss supplier — farms and small manufacturers we have visited in person and whose practices we know. We do not use synthetic fragrance in any treatment; essential oil blends are compounded in-house from certified organic single-note oils. Our clay and mineral products come from a family producer in the Salzkammergut region, forty minutes from Linz. None of this is marketing copy — it is simply what we require from ourselves. Guests with chemical sensitivities often remark that our treatments are the first they have been able to enjoy without a reaction, which is the clearest sign that the sourcing discipline is worthwhile.
Both lead therapists hold Austrian vocational qualifications in massage therapy and have completed advanced postgraduate training in myofascial techniques and cosmetic dermatology protocols. Certifications are reviewed and updated annually.
We are a Linz business in the fullest sense — our suppliers are regional, our guests are mostly local, and our pricing reflects what is fair in this city, not what the Vienna market bears. We are committed to staying rooted here.
Each January we retire any treatment that has underperformed or grown stale and introduce one or two new additions. The menu is never static, but it is always deliberate — every entry earns its place through consistent results.
